In my opinion, one of the best things about Gimkit is the Gim! From the simple free ones that are only one-color to the extremely complicated feats of animation like Adam (explored in more detail here), each Gim is a unique masterpiece!
And Gimkit seems to be making even more complicated Gims each and every day... you can see some unreleased ones here that have been found by several dedicated Gimkitters!
This #Kitdown2025 post, however, isn't about the many awesome Gims that Gimkit has made, but rather the anatomy of a Gim!
Here's a table of contents in case you'd like to skip around this post:
How Do They Eat?
This might be an extremely obvious thing to notice, but Gims don't have mouths!
You might be thinking, then: How do Gims eat? Everyone has to eat! 🤔
And, what about Farmchain? The Gims are obviously growing food there, as well as in the gardens in the Alphastar!
Well, I have a [slightly] unorthodox explanation for you...
When the Gims are growing food in their farm, they're producing it to sell so that they can pay for whatever they need money food (so clearly someone in the Gimkit universe needs to eat), and when they're growing it in the Alphastar, they're growing the plants to produce oxygen (how they breathe is explained here). 🤑
But what do Gims eat for sustenance... Well, what do they need in-game in order to function?
Energy! Gims eat energy!
Now, since very few Gims have mouths (Chompz, Josh, Chompz Costume, Carver Costume, Ant, and Caterpillar), all other Gims just absorb energy for fuel, just like how they pick it up and absorb it in-game to use for moving.
This is what I think a Gim eating energy looks like:
<-- This is crazy tbh. lol🤣
How Do They Breathe?
As I mentioned above, the most feasible reason for why the crew of the Alphastar was growing plants (which obviously didn't go too well 😅) is to produce oxygen, since they don't have any mouths with which to eat physical foods with.
But how do they inhale that air so that they don't suffocate, since they don't have noses either (with the exceptions of the 20 Gims listed here and whichever new Gims have come out since the writing of this post)?
Well, I think that Gims breathe through their skin (if what they have can be called skin) like these animals listed here, though they're not aquatic as far as I know! 💦
Like as if they inhale through tiny pores in their pixelated skin or something. 😅
How Do They Hear?
This might be the strangest explanation I've given get...
Gims may hear by using some variety of echolocation, or by absorbing vibrations from the ground. This is possible in nature (in frogs, cicadas, salamanders, and crickets), and it wouldn't be to far of a stretch to assume that Gims work the same; though there are many ways they could hear without [visible] ears, this is one of the most sane conclusions. 🤪
How Do Gims Hold Objects?
Also, another exciting question: how do Gims hold gadgets? Well, I have absolutely no idea (from a scientific perspective) how anything could hold something without [physically] holding it, so unlike with the last few questions, this theory is going to be a little bit crazy...
Gims are psychic?
The most plausible theory I can think of is that Gims can somehow hold certain objects with their minds. Either that or they have invisible hands? 😯
Definitely not just any objects, though, or they'd go picking up props, lol. Only gadgets (such as the pickaxe).
<-- What could happen if Gims couldn't keep their grips on their gadgets. 😆
The End?
Are these all the questions I can ask about the anatomy of Gims? Not really, but for now, I have to go to max out my weekly XP so that I can go get some more of the epic Gims in this week's item shop... but for now, let your imagination run wild, and try to come up with your own theories as to how a Gim's body works.
Due to the fact that Team Gimkit hasn't confirmed anything yet about the anatomy of Gims, we all have freedom to speculate, since their silence leaves us room to explore some really silly theories. 😋
