Welcome to the 7th year of creativity, Gimkitters! It's amazing to think that only 7 years ago Josh and Jeff had the amazing idea to make Gimkit a business! :)
Looking Back
I don't have the time to go into the specifics of what brought Josh and Jeff together to make this amazing company, but you can read all about it here in this well-written interview they did with the Pioneer Collective. 📰
Looking Forward
It's no surprise that Gimkit has accomplished extraordinary things over the last few years: thinking up Gims, building complex maps, and coding elaborate mechanics. But what's next??
Obviously, Gimkit's going to keep making more games (hopefully for quite some time), adding many new mechanics along the way. And Josh will hopefully give us the ability to play around with new devices sometime soon (as he said here in the forum). 🤖
But that's a long ways off... what's Gimkit planning coming up this winter? Read this news below to learn more:
Just yesterday, a Gimkitter named HeHe brought this to my attention; he informed me that this image was in the home page of the Gimkit Wiki. However, when I went to look for this news in the Gimkit News feed at gimkit.com, I couldn't find it.
I don't know why this is, but despite it not being visible in the current news feed, it did reveal some exciting stuff.
For example, Team Gimkit moved its only no-kit-needed game, This or That, into Discovery. It's now the first map made in Discovery that was made by Gimkit, though it still says "This map was not created by Gimkit. If anything in this map breaks our Community Guidelines, please report and we will take proper action."
All in all, great job, Team Gimkit! This is really exciting and I'm glad all these new features are out! 😎
Also - and this is even more exciting - Gimkit has released the first clue to what the next season's game will be...
Next Season
In the image, it says Another New 2D Mode, though it doesn't specify if it will be Top-Down or Platformer. Personally, I hope it'll be another Platformer, since I like those more, but no one knows what Josh may think of next.
The wording of "we can't paint the full picture yet, but this one will boost your classroom energy before the December break" intrigues me; though it could mean any number of things, the words paint and energy really stand out to me. Idk why. 😅
What do you think the new game will be? Platformer or Top-Down? Vote below. :)
